Friends of Grasmere | Wordsworth Daffodil memorial garden

Daffodils, stones and shrubs

With each sponsorship you will receive a pack of six notecards featuring a lovely water colour painting of the Wordsworth Daffodil Garden by well known local artist Mary Lauritzen. Your name and the person in who's name the donation is made, will be entered in the Book of Friends displayed in St Oswald's church.

Donate £10 for a daffodil to be planted

The wild daffodil is of course 'Wordsworth's flower' and in the coming years we aim to establish a 'carpet' so that once again he will have thousands beside him. In heralding spring it symbolises the wonderful cycle of nature's renewal.

Donate £175 for your name to be carved on a stone

You can sponsor an engraved Lakeland slate pavior which is set in the path of the garden. It can be engraved with a name(s) together with a town or place. About a half of the path area has already been sponsored and when the paths are complete the sponsorship of stones will close.

Donate £375 for a shrub to be planted with a dedication plaque

You can sponsor a shrub designated with a slate name-plaque set on a short post. Because we don't want to 'over-plaque' the garden we are limiting these to twenty places in the garden. So far, eight have been taken. Following your donation you will be contacted to discuss your choice of shrub and its position.
